ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – A Minnesota businessman from the Alexandria area announced Monday that he will run in the Republican primary election for the U.S. House of Representatives, challenging incumbent Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) during the upcoming 2024 election cycle.
Steve Boyd, a Christian, conservative, husband and father of five who owns a turf management and mosquito control company serving residents of Douglas, Grant, Pope, Stevens, and Swift counties, says he is committed to taking on issues that many of our current leaders aren’t willing to address.
“We live in a Congressional district that votes overwhelmingly for Republican candidates,” said Boyd. “We should be championing issues that matter to ordinary conservatives, especially fighting back against the left’s war on Christianity and our Constitution. I admire Rep. Fischbach’s determination to making a career out of holding onto public office since the late 1900s, but with the problems we are facing in this nation, business as usual just won’t get it done.
“We must have representatives that are willing to boldly confront the issues we face as a state and nation regardless of political implications while simultaneously working to create fundamental lasting change by engaging the people in the process,” said Boyd. “We are facing an all out assault on our traditional American values, we have an invasion at our southern border, the innocence of our children is under attack, we no longer value life, and we are headed for economic ruin with out-of-control inflation fueled by irresponsible spending. I have talked with many people throughout the district and they want to engage, they don’t want to just be needed for their money and vote, they are patriots and are ready to take our country back and return to our fundamental principles. They want action and it is time for a change.”
Boyd and his wife Talitha are active members of the community and have devoted many hours of service, volunteering at their church, coaching youth sports and as volunteers and part of the leadership for a local non-profit that supports families in crisis. He is also a Constitution Coach for Patriot Academy, a national organization dedicated to teaching citizens about America’s founding as a Christian country. In that capacity, he teaches Biblical Citizenship courses at local churches and online.
