Nearly 200 supporters attend Fischbach challenger Steve Boyd’s official campaign kickoff

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – Nearly 200 supporters, campaign staffers and volunteers turned out for the official campaign kickoff event for Steve Boyd’s run for U.S. House on Saturday evening at Church for the Harvest in Alexandria.

Boyd is challenging incumbent Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) in the Republican primary race in Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District.

During the event, Boyd addressed his supporters, telling them that business as usual for Republicans in Washington will no longer cut it, and that restoring liberty is a duty not just for politicians, but for all Americans.

“I think we all know where our rights come from,” Boyd told his supporters. “They come from God. That means the government doesn’t get to dictate what those rights are. And we have to understand the proper order. Those rights come from God to us, and we empower the government with our consent to protect those rights.”

According to Boyd, the true understanding of liberty and the true value of life has been lost in Washington, even among those who claim to be conservative like Fischbach.

The value of life, Boyd said, is intrinsically connected to all of the cultural and social issues America faces today.

“We don’t get to decide whether an innocent life is taken in the womb or otherwise,” Boyd said. “We don’t get to decide that a mistake was made and that we’re really something different than what we were created as. You know, God doesn’t make mistakes. There are no accidents when it comes to the creation of human life. It isn’t valuing life to make people reliant on the government. It isn’t valuing life not to have a secure border and turning a blind eye to the exploitation of men, women and children being used as pawns in the evil schemes of drugs, human trafficking and political games. It isn’t valuing life to lower our standards of education and use our schools to push a Marxist agenda. It isn’t valuing life to devalue the traditional nuclear family structure, especially the importance of fathers in the home. We have to fix that problem.”

Boyd said that until legislators and Americans re-learn the true value of life, policies will continue to be built on the wrong foundation, and he is running for Congress to shift Washington’s focus back towards America’s original understanding of the value of life.
